Charming tableware, one of my own collection of Antique French pottery "pichet parlant" (talking pitcher), or wine pitcher with raised applied writing, sayings or even cafe names on them. This is Savoie glazed pottery. They were often used at cafes, wine service at table. I've collected a bunch of these and used them for parties, a wine pitcher at table for each couple. I have a set of casual pottery plates which are perfect with these, and pewter pieces and under plates or chargers we've enjoyed and displayed for decades. I'm letting my collections go. These will be listed one item per listing - you're buying just the one in the main photos and the final photo shows a grouping of them all together. Full measurements are noted on the photos.

This one notes “on boit bien quand j'ai su on ne voit pas quand j'ai soif” (we drink well when I know we don't see when I'm thirsty) - a reference to not knowing how much is left of the wine, likely from a little French cafe.  Typical to have the cafe name on these. This one shows grape leaves and fine, grapes in hand-applied relief on the glazed stoneware - country feel to these and just so fun - everyone loves these!  Thick wheel-thrown pottery, hand decorated with custom writing related to the buyer or commission (cafe order). I find 1 chip on the base on this one. It's old, it's used - part of its charm!
