One grouping from an estate set of dinnerware, all very similarly decorated and all with the same elegant gold hand painted monogram, "BGG", this is a set of 10 plates by Haviland (Limoges), France, fine porcelain and enriched with hand applied gold enamel borders. We have also, offered and sold separately, a matching set of 12 dinner plates and a coordinated set of 6 slightly different dessert plates - look for those if you wish to expand your set. As noted, this set is by Haviland, and were made to be marketed through a luxury purveyor in Atlantan William Lycett (as were the others with matching monogram so we know they were first purchased in Atlanta, GA, USA). This set has the Haviland company mark which was used between 1894-1931.
Very good condition for age and type, there is 1 plate which has a flashing chip on the rim, shown in detail on our photos, and another has a bit of the gold border rubbed. Each of those can be touched up and still used. The remaining 8 are without damage or loss. They seem to have been very nicely stored these 120 or so years, and show little evidence of actual use like utensil marks or the crazing one occasionally finds. A very pretty and old set! Lots of photos.
