Probably a Napoleon III era (Victorian) souvenir trinket initially offered from a boutique in the flank of the garden promenade at the famed Palais Royal, Paris. I love these! The variations seem endless, but double goats or double horse carriages, opaline eggs are probably my favorites. The Palais Royal, a long historied Palace of Cardinal Richelieu, and for centuries a center of upscale commerce, theater, dining, gathering place. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No damage to the alabaster base, nor to the fluted glass inkwell. No loss or damage to the carriage or goats, harness, and amazingly, even the original inkwell cap is still there with its chain.
