Someone's c.1889 trinket box souvenir from a visit to the Paris Expo of that year at which the Eiffel Tower was unveiled, France. In that year, Paris was up in arms about the ugly monstrosity this tower of steel was. Of course since that year it has captured the attention and love of the world and has become a primary icon of Paris. This might become your souvenir of your trip, or just to add to your collection. It is a drawing printed on the glass, then painted from the backside (eglomise). Showing much of the Expo grounds (now the Champs du Mar) extending on both sides and beyond. Deep beveled glass pulls light into the scene which is mounted on a sweet pressed gilt brass box frame with original silk lining and tin mirror has at least 133 years now and is still wonderful. Display it with your collection of boxes. Measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I see no flaws to report. Photos show all, though I had a tough time catching the mother of pearl reflections in the windows.
