A beautiful and large sofa pillow, throw pillow, hand crafted within the past decade or 2 with a fine 19th century Aubusson fragment as focal front panel. Likely the panel was salvaged from the back of a chair, since there are no pulls, loose or damaged areas. Panels from seats are usually not in such fine condition. Woven in silk and wool yarns, the old French panels are coveted for accent pillows such as this one. Made up nicely, with elaborate French passementerie fringed trim, the 22" x 12.5" top is even larger adding the trim. The backing appears to be a nice silk fabric, though I have not tested it. Zippered back opens to reveal a newer commercially made pillow form and it feels like the feather/down fill, quite light. Nice depth to it, and as you can see, shows incredibly well. The color is a creamy tan with a almost imperceptible tint to the palest green (note against my ivory-colored sofa). So pretty!
Very good to excellent condition for age of panel, and type of pillow. Hand-crafted with a 19th century French woven panel used, it is a used pillow. No odor of any sort. The small flaws I can see and report include a couple of the ball-fringes have come loose from the ball, making them more of a tassel - does not detract. While the pillow is remarkably clean and no flaws to report on its top side, I can see that there is a little something on the backside, a couple of spots. I have marked those with "x" to draw your eye to those for review. Hurts the value only a little, and the enjoyment in display, even less. Large and such a fine panel used. Delicate palette will blend toward just about any color. So pretty!
