Beautiful little accent stool, bench or footstool, a carved French frame upholstered in an early 1900s wool yarn needlepoint. Nice size and beautifully preserved, you'll love this one. If pressed I would say the frame on it is 19th century, and it's been reupholstered in early 1900s with a fresh undamaged needlepoint. The colors remain beautiful and unfaded. There are no odors. As you can see from one of my final photos, my little Manx kitten, Izzy, has found it's a perfect fit. She's 11.5 lbs, in case you're looking at it as a superb little pet bed. She gives it 2 thumbs up. It is 2 feet long, 10.5" tall, so also perfect for human use at your favorite chair. Full measurements noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I would date the carved wood frame to mid-1800s, Victorian/Napoleon III era, and it is very French. The needlepoint upholstery, while of advanced age, is more in line with those done in early 1900s, so I think it has been reupholstered about then. Beautifully done, not a single hobnail out of place in the trim-tacked edging. Shows elegantly. A deep blue tinted to gray rather than navy, really, the needlepoint has been entirely hand-embroidered and retains a fine even coloration and palette. There are no holes and no bug losses to the wool yarns. Very solid, too. No odors (Izzy only napped on it 1 day and she's incredibly clean and sweet).
