Fontainebleau school heavy wood frame with gilded appliqué, original to the oil painting landscape within. An oil painting on canvas, it remains as charming as early to mid-1800s. The artist has signed the work in lower right corner, which I've shown in detail. A little hard to make out, so unable to research. An intimate painting as is most often the case for this particular type of artwork, a wonderful creekside scene. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the frame has imperfections consistent with age, and one might wish to do a little restoration. Sized for wall or shelf, it's a painting that invites close inspection for the elegantly captured scene. No flaws to the painting, itself, but a possible tiny scrape at the signature which impedes my ability to make out. A very nice piece, indeed.
