This is a 'marriage' of 2 fine antiques. A darling portrait miniature of 2 children, brother and sister, painted by an artist who has not signed the work, on an oval plaque which dates between cc.1790-1830, and it's been kept in a same period frame but it has a round aperture, so it seems unlikely they started out together. Each one is a valuable antique on its own, and it's the way they were when I found them in France ages ago, probably a century or nearly 2 together. Small 'gem' size, it's incredible to think the faces of the children are 5/8" for the boy, and 3/8" for the girl (chin to hairline). Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good condition for age and type. No warp, chip, hairline to the little portrait, and the frame is beautiful, showing its age on the fabric mat, but no losses.
