A splendid early 1800s Grand Tour souvenir, probably first purchased through the boutiques of the old Palais Royal, though perhaps another Paris location frequented by early Grand Tour travelers. The jewelry box is large for these, nearly 3.5" diameter (plus the extension of the 4 feet). Acid engraved panel and fancy presswork brass ormolu which is topped with a fabulous view, slightly aerial in nature, of the Concord, Tuileries Palace, the Madeleine, and a mostly rural hillside beyond that would become the location of Sacre Coeur. You can see the old windmills, and many details of the era in that fabulous depiction of Paris c. 1830-50.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No paint loss, no hairlines in the old eglomise (back-painted glass) and no dents or damage to the box's framework. The old foil bottom remains. Note that there would be either mother of pearl or foil backing the Paris scene, as it shimmers in light (see images). Even the fine old silk interior remains along with its dainty and intricate silk passementerie trim (slight dust issue on the bottom liner, visible in images).  Hinge and clasp are working perfectly. No loss, no flaws notable.
