Antique French portrait miniature, unusual woman holding a veil or cloth over her head. I do not have a story for her. She's just one that I found intriguing. We've had her for decades. Her value is diminished somewhat by the crack in the wafer to the left of her, but the charm of the painting is intact. She dates c.1770-1820.
Good to very good, age and type considered. Painted on wafer, in gouache. Yes, a hairline on the wafer, to left of her raised hand, coming up from bottom and extending about 60% of the height of the wafer. Another starts at top, further to left, and extends down about 30% of the wafer. We have not opened it up to photograph without glare of lights. It is all original as you see it. There might be more information inside, but my thought was she's fragile and best left along and enjoyed. Measurements are noted on our photos.
