Carved by hand, all 32 pieces after European Medieval figures, the Kings are each substantial sculptures at nearly 7" tall, and others graduated in size to the pawns which are nearly 4 1/2". This is a set I bought decades back in France, but it's a Swiss-carved set, Swiss German, possibly. Light and dark wood, beautifully preserved. I bought them as c.1900, give or take 10 years, and I have no reason to doubt the age. Vintage at that time, they're antiques by now. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition, I think they've only been displayed through the century and perhaps used very little. Not even a pawn's hat rim chipped, no other chips to report. Very old thin felt on bases to move easily on your chessboard, however, should you want to use as intended. Beautiful natural woods. The set is complete, nothing missing. I really see no losses to report. I've stored them all that time in a box. Our warehouse hides many treasures we were always too busy to get listed. A trip to the warehouse is like Paris/Europe, all without tons of walking. Fun.
