Antique French Coin Purse, Ivory and Silk, Kiln-fired Enamel Plaque Miniature Painting

With a wonderfully preserved silk lining, still sectioned in the manner of the mid-late 19th century coin purses commonly given to children upon religious confirmation, this beautiful little treasure has the added interest of a fine old French enameled plaque, likely much earlier, (c. early 1800s). While we don't believe this coin purse would have originally come with such a plaque, and we think it predates the coin purse, it's a lovely accent to the purse, even with its obvious flaws, and the combination of the bits create a truly splendid whole in aggregate, don't you agree? Just a bauble, but one that compliments your vignette of framed portrait miniatures, small boxes, Marie-Antoinette era vernis martin items of similar look and feel - a darling little treasure you'll love owning. I am slightly ashamed to allow these images to go through, since our speedy photographer got this one before I'd had time to clean it up. Please if you will overlook the surface dinge and think of it as clean and pristinely grime-free, that is how you will receive this little beauty.
