RARE Antique French sterling silver (Minerve #1: .950/1000 pure silver) scent/vanity caddy, Silversmith's mark of: Antony Salomon, 260 Rue Saint-Honoré, Paris 1901 - 1912. Just in from France. Complete and undamaged but for missing 1 stopper. Caddy is 5" in diameter and the stand with all caps in place is 5.5" tall. Heavy fine French silver and elegantly wheel-engraved French crystal, possibly Baccarat - the largest and most impressive of these scent caddies we've ever seen.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, with a nod to a single stopper having gone missing. There are no chips, no hairlines in necks, no damage to the silver apart from a little surface scratches on the bottom of the heavy sterling silver base or holder. Guilloche and repoussé work all in the manner of Louis XVI, cross torches and garlands. Again, made between 1901-1912, the years this silversmith was active in Paris. No dents in silver. No chips on stoppers, even (1 is missing).
