Superb mid-late 1700s portrait miniature of a military officer set in an elaborate and heavy bronze frame that I am sure is not original to the painting, but does add to the appeal and elevates display of the fine painting. I'm not that good at identifying the old military medals, but I know the French Medal of Honor is a 5-point rather than 4. Very good to excellent condition throughout, cover glass in place and no flaws at all on the thin panel upon which the painting was done. No warp, no hairlines or cracks, no loss of paint. As mentioned, I do not think this is an original frame, but it is also antique, heavy bronze, and elevates the painting beautifully. Ring loop up top for hanging.
