Another charming antique c.1850s-80s French wool yarn embroidery, needlepoint stitch, a lovely panel that has been lined in felt, likely used as a tabletop mat but would be fabulous worked into a luxurious decorator pillow top. Dress it up with heavy silk or velvet sides and back, or casual decor with a patterned cotton printed fabric. Trim with French passementerie or simpler piping and maybe tassels at corners - it would be gorgeous. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, hardly an imperfection at all, age considered, and the colors are still bright and vibrant, so you know it has not sat in sunlight, which fades and slightly degrades the old yarns. No odors. Supple canvas, it would be so beautiful made up as a pillow top. Might work as top for a small footstool or bench, as well. Your project. Easy to do!
