A beautiful piece of furniture, a lady's sewing tool for needlework or embroidery, or quilting, this is the size made for tabletop or laptop use, a stretcher to hold the fabric or canvas tight so needlework can be worked beautifully. Entirely made of wood, this one has only 2 small metal bolts with butterfly wing nuts to tighten the angle of the frame. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, it is the type used from 1700s on, and I would date this one mid- late 1800s. Some age to the wood, but no breaks, no repairs. Bun feet on bottom. Beautiful finish to all the wood.
