Overly large as these go, and not a single milk glass cabochon post tip missing, which is quite rare on these old racks. The needlepoint in yarn and glass beads depicts a castle, and a few glass beads have gone missing. Presents nicely and is a must for a Victorian decor or interior. Found in France, but I think more like English Victorian. Yet red and black was very popular in France in the Napoleon III era (c.1850-70). Full measurements noted on photos.

Very good to excellent for age and type, dates to c.1840-50s. Not perfect, a few abrasions on the old frame, and my experience with these through the decades, most have an extension turned wood piece that is hinged to the tall outer posts so they fold flat to the wall but about 4" outside the oval frame, and hinge forward, meant to hold a gentleman's top hat. If this one was made in that way initially, modification has been done. Noted, some missing stitches and some missing glass beads. If you're handy, you can buy replacement glass beads in any color in crafting stores today.
