Still working through a huge stack of fabulous antique needlework and loomed tapestry fragments found throughout the past 4 decades while buying in France - all with the idea of making them up as lushly fringed and down-filled opulent throw or decorator pillows. They're clean, odorless, archival stored and in excellent condition for use as intended. THIS one is late Victorian to Edwardian era, an unused large needlepoint panel 22 3/8" x 20 3/4", might have been framed at one time but is supple and strong and undamaged and begs to be made up as a lushly-fringed down-filled throw pillow. Victorian part and rose garland, a popular theme, against a dark charcoal wool background which might once have been black. Turning the panel over shows the original vibrant colors of the old wool. Not much fading over the 120-140 years. Full measurements also appear on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, no holes, no lost stitches or bug damage - I always bought only the very best panels. Mock-up samples of what it could look like as a square pillow or cut to a round pillow top, to spur your imagination. You might prefer to frame it. It would seem someone once framed it. I see a line of some hot glue (perhaps) across the top, which could be pulled off, but which might have held it in place within a frame under glass. Beautiful colors used, can go from antique decor to modern with ease. I'd date this panel between 1880-1920, found in England decades ago.
