In the final couple of panels of photos, you'll see some of our portrait miniatures of real women in the Napoleon I era, each wearing one of these very fashionable tiaras. Those to show that they were versatile, sometimes worn to the side, sometimes across the top or crown, worked into an elegant upswept coiffure, chignon. These are more and more rare to find, and particularly the pearl or red coral jeweled ones like this. Three rows of hand carved c.1800-1910 red coral beads set into a gilded ormolu, this one is missing a single bead. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I have noted a single flaw in that one carved bead is missing at far end of the top row (marked on our photos for your review). How was it worn? These sometimes come with a string still attached to each end, or later adaptation of elastic, which creates a headband-like strap which is worked into the hairstyle. Some use an anchor hairpin. This one displays beautifully. NOTE: Red box is not included - it is only a prop for our photos.
