My best ever, and we've had some wonderful 18th to 19th century leather briefcases and folios through the decades - some have made it into period movies. Of finest quality leather in it's time, gold-embossed and with hardware which allows for the expansion to a depth of 6" when full. Lying flat, it is 1 1/2" thick, and I've tried to show you all the neatly baffled sides and the additional folder within, with it's own document separations. Might have belonged to an English magistrate, a French avocat (attorney) or a busy businessman. It's been in my collection for a very long time. Pulled out sometimes for photo prop with inkwells, etc., but it's time to let it go. Movie industry props - definitely one you'll want! Full measurements noted on the photos. The antique letters and documents are NOT included - just there for ambiance, size reference. Found in France, I'm uncertain of maker. Something one might have found on Bond Street, London.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. These are usually more worn, particularly at folds or corners. Typically much more used up. This one could prop in a Victorian movie series and look very close to new. That's how I see it. The interior is in very good condition, inner pocket for stationery or divided folders of files. The main huge body of the valise seems to be canvas-lined and shows very little loss or wear. Folds are nicely preserved. I do not have a key to lock the lock. perhaps a locksmith could help if one needed one made. BEST one ever! And huge!
