In over 4 decades of buying, collecting, I think the few diadem we've just bought from an important French estate (anonymous) are my favorite diadem, tiara of decades. They're certainly the prettiest and most impressive. The last one from this collection looked similar to this one, but had a moving 'Tremblant' centerpiece to the upper crown, where this one has extra large stones and a trio, almost flour d'lys crest, in form of flowers. Every antique French paste stone/gem remains in place, which is very rare. No losses or damage. The center gem is huge as these go, at 19mm in diameter. The very last photo is of my granddaughter at Fontainebleau, France, wearing it (Photoshopped) as a necklace, to give you a sense of the size. The one she wears as a crown is already sold. It's overly large as these go. On a couple of photos I've turned it upside down to show how it might look if worn as a necklace (you can adjust the size down with the post/holes in back), and I think it would be splendid! Dating c.1820-30, it rivals the very most elaborate we've seen in portraits and portrait miniatures of that time frame, and is fully remarkable in all ways. This one is surprisingly heavy as these go, likely owing to the amount of stones. Pressed metal is bright and of thick gauge, too. Photos show it from all angles of view. Very good to excellent condition throughout. I find no losses and no damage to report. All mounts have gems. It might be possible a few are replacements over time. It's unusual to find these absolutely complete. The ormolu is bright and with so many gems, it feels truly regal. The 'gems' range from 5mm diameter to 19mm, and there are gradations, all in round form. There is a number impressed to the side back headband, and I've shown it in the photos, too. We have no idea what it means: 906. I find no flaws to repot.
