Gorgeous & rare antique English late Victorian era four piece gilded bronze desk or writer's set including inkwell with banded Scottish agate cabochon, stationery casket, blotter or portfolio and pen tray with elegant matching 'gilt rope' decoration! We normally find these all separately and only on a very rare occasion are the sets still together. Here's a beautiful exception, consisting of three original matched pieces with the inkwell one I just found and it matched so closely that I've grouped them all together. Rare to include the dome topped stationery box! All with a simple but very elegant gilded finish and the solitary gold rope as decoration! A stunning set, an easy fit into just about any decorative style. One of the finest makers, Betjemann, and fairly early date marks: 22 May 188122 May 1881, making it a particularly fine investment set

Very good condition! Just a very minor surface blemish and/or discoloration in spots (likely would clean with a bit of polish). The interior dividers of the stationery box are textured white paper on card and later replacements. There is some slight scratching to the front of the portfolio and wear to the binding, back & silk interior. As noted, the inkwell is not original to the set but so closely matches. It likely had a base insert panel but it's open now. The inkwell has its original bronze & glass inner ink pot and a mechanical button, push and the inkwell lid pops up. There is also an old English patent or registry mark on the inkwell button. See pictures for measurements.
