Horse lover? Kentucky Derby bets? Just a wish for good luck or catching blessings - so many possible back stories for this one, but all I know is I've owned it for decades among my vintage to antique jewelry. Each of the 'nails' are raised kiln-fired blue enamel, one with a little surface chip (see images). Full measurements on photos, and weight is 7.85 grams.
Very good condition for age and type, very realistic form for the horseshoe. Acid tested at 14k, might be 15k. Barrel hinge and c-clamp, we think it dates to Edwardian era. A little nip to the raised kiln-fired enamel (blue) and light surface abrasion consistent with age and wear.
