Fabulous large antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved oak 41 3/4" wide cornice, a furniture or architectural crown piece with deer or stag, hunting dogs or hounds and pierced vines & oak leaves! Taken from the top of larger carved pieces of furniture, these old 'salvaged' pieces were generally the more ornate parts of the pieces and make wonderful decorative accents as they are. Or, turn them into part of your custom cabinetry, fireplace mantel, bar or wouldn't it look great mounted over an entry doorway. Carved from what is surely solid old growth European oak and the size is nearly as impressive as the carving. Fabulous visual appeal no matter how you end up using or displaying it!
Very good to excellent condition. The deer's antlers appear to have been broken or carved down to 'spikes' and there is an ever-so-slight bend at one end (maybe 1/8" from perfect straight). See pictures for all measurements.
