These are French pens, and this set is original to the presentation box. The slender graceful long handle is brilliantly iridescent mother of perl, and the pen's nib is a steel replacement for an original that would have been 18k gold. It's the type sold mid-1800s from the boutiques of the old Palais Royal, and most think of them as "Palais Royal", though indeed they were also sold from the Passages boutiques and a few others, as well as exported for fine stationers' shops as in case of this one.
Very good to excellent condition. There is one very small ding to the golden ferule of the pen, we've detailed it in our photos so you can review. No flaws to the pencil, which is mechanical and would retract an inserted lead.. The case has age, but is in nice form. Very lovely old set! Measurements noted on our images.
