A budding young teen French girl, hair shorn in the Titan, or guillotine haircut made popular by those protesting the lost Royals and loved ones to The Terror. The hair was shorn roughly, uneven, very short at the nape and falling over the forehead, similar to the cut hair of those whose neck was bared thus for the blade of the guillotine. The French Revolution was a violent time, and elites and Royals and courtiers' families fled France for decades to be safe. This child, perhaps 9-12 years old has huge brown eyes and a slightly downturned gaze, as if some of The Terror haunts her still. A fabulous painting, artist signed, P. Roy to lower right. We do not have the ID of this girl, whose face is so tiny at just 1/2", chin to hairline.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Wafer is undamaged, painting is signed by artist. Frame is in very nice condition, deep and round. Convex cover glass is original and in place. All measurements noted on the photos. No ID for the young girl.
