While we find these in finer form and in the fittings of elaborate luxurious nécessaire, travel vanity sets from vest pocket size to extra large chests, most are smallish and more elegant. I suspect this one was more made for 'the common man' or for a soldier but not an officer. Dates to Napoleonic Era or before, and has no appearance of ever having been used. Almost 4" long, beautifully preserved bit of history. Full measurements on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I see no chips, cracks, evidence of use. Clean and well-stored for 200+ years. Rivets tight. Pulled from an old bin from decades ago, found in France.
