Beautiful tapestry panel, both glass beadwork and wool and silk needlepoint shield-form fire screen still complete and with passementerie cord trim and lush fringe. This is one of the few that have survived and could be used on a screen bracket, or would be stunning made up as a pillow top, down-filled and fringed or perhaps tassels on the corners. The work is in a stunning Victorian English floral palette and form. Lots of glass beads, not much fade to the wool and silk yarns - a real beauty! Full measurements can be found on our photos.
Very good to excellent for age and type, nearly 180 years old now, surprisingly complete and not showing any holes, only 2-3 glass beads missing and easy to replace. A variety of wool yarn stitches give it more texture, too. Silk back lining isn't perfect, but is there which at this age is unusual. One of the nicest we've had.
