Lovely antique French 1819-1838 hallmarked Louis XVI to Louis Philippe era sterling silver drageoir or confiturier, aesthetic styling with larger flowers & vines, palmette & acanthus accents and wonderful condition! Another fine piece just in from Europe, we had the good fortune of finding quite a few fantastic & rare old French sterling silver sets & pieces recently and we're just now offering them here. This one an elegant old serving piece, the hallmarks date it back to the Louis XVI to Louis Philippe era though you wouldn't guess it was 200 or so years old given its wonderful condition. Both the lid and vessel bear the French Michel-Ange or Michelangelo hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they are in .950 silver (95% pure and so above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is mostly legible but I've not found reference as of listing. If I do manage to find the maker, I'll add that information. A gorgeous piece!
Very good to excellent condition. Although nothing stands out on inspection, there may be a tiny dimple or two. No large dents, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for weight and measurements.
