Gorgeous antique French 18k gold on sterling silver "vermeil" flatware set, a 3pc place setting for one with stylized seashell & acanthus accented pattern, mother of pearl handled knife and all in wonderful condition! We've been adding a few single and double place settings this week. Dining alone? With all of this quarantine and uncertainty going on, we thought spoiling ourselves in our solitude might be warranted. A gorgeous set here, dessert, entremet or luncheon sized pieces and sure to impress! All pieces bear the post-1838 French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within the marks on fork & spoons means they are in .950 silver under the gold plating (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The Minerva mark on the knife blade has rounded sides and a tiny number "2", meaning it's in .800 (80% pure) or better silver (not uncommon in knife blades with the slightly lower silver content giving them more strength and durability). The silversmith marks on the forks & spoon are for J. Veyrier, Paris circa mid to late 1800s and the mark on the knife we've yet to find reference for. Spoil yourself!
Very good condition. Just as you see them, free of any notable damage or repairs. As noted, the knife is not a perfect match for the other pieces but close enough and compliments them beautifully. Some wear to the vermeil with silver showing through in a few areas. See pictures for weights and measurements.
