I don't usually buy portraits from last half of 1800s, but the elegant gown and fashion this woman wears was too appealing to pass by. Likewise, her kiln-fired enamel accented frame is just fabulous. This has been a painting done of a sitting subject. Unidentified, she lives on through her elegance and sense of style. If I had to put in in a decade, I'd say c.1890-1900, Belle Epoch. Frame is an interesting locket-like fitted frame with easel back and hanging rings. Convex cover glass is original. Measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. I can see, and photos show a very tiny white spot on painting at about the 10:00 o'clock position, which is a tiny loss of paint. Gouache on thin wafer, no cracks nor breaks. The frame is excellent and has no chips on the creamy colored kiln-fired enamel. Enamel frames are rather rare all on their own.
