Now and then we locate a was seal or even a letter opener from one of these early 1800s French sets, but it's very rare to find a complete original set in the fitted & tooled leather presentation case and in such fine condition as the one we have brought you here. So it's a pleasure expanded. The set has hand enameled barrels or bodies to each of the 3 writer's tools, and with exception of a very tiny crack to the pen handle, they are all in exceptionally fine condition with just some wear to the gold enamel as you can see. There is such an interesting mechanical way the pen tip opens and clamps closed to hold a nib (no nib with the box but we'll add one for shipment - easy to locate replacements as we have a small box of antique nibs). The leather etui or box, case, is the old original and each piece fits perfectly in the recessed fittings. A lovely set, the seal sans monogram so you could even add your own if you so wish!
Box and set are both in remarkably fine condition for age and type. I can find only one hairline crack to the enamel of the pen handle (about 1.5" from the top gilt portion). Also, as you can see, there is some wear to the gold enamel accenting over the deep cobalt blue. Finally, there is a leather strip fortifying the hinge on the rear of the box, not sure if the hinge was completely broken or what but it's all fine now, closes completely and has both front hook clasps. Measurements are noted on the photos.
