Napoleon III era French liqueur 'aperitif' set, with the charming small cups and handled decanter, all decorated in raised enamel and still matched together with the original tray. No host would allow a guest to be denied a pre-dinner drink - just a small amount to whet the appetite, enliven the tongue. Lots of people use these for aperitif and also for an after dinner desert liqueur, as we have done many times along with desert or afterward. Full measurements noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition, rather rare to find a complete set like this, still with stopper and tray, all 6 aperitif cups and no real loss. I have noted a tiny chip on the rim of the tray, more to be felt with a finger than noticed when you're showing it off. Speaking of showing it off, electric blue glass is SO gorgeous when lighted in your hutch or display vitrine. The set dates Napoleon III to perhaps Art Nouveau, so c.1870s - 1910. Numbers on decanter (carafon) and stopper match, the set is completely original with no replacements. Again, rare to find full original sets. Found in France.
