Wonderful antique French Napoleon III era pocket watch or pendant display casket, an ornate box or miniature vitrine with chinoiserie themed figural tableau in bas relief with pagodas, figures, bamboo & foliage, dog or hound and canted thick beveled glass lid! One of our favorite style of antique pocket watch casket with the beveled glass and elegant old French bas relief work, an early manufactured good for the Grand Tour and export business. The casket is rich in deep bas scenes that encircle the box, the hinged glass door swings upward and reveals a watch hook inside. It's the type of casket a gentleman might use at evening to store his time piece in a way that left it displayed as a bedside or even a desktop clock. Very good condition. The most notable flaw here is that it's missing the small scrolled clasp piece that would have been in the center front of the lid, possiblty a tiny nip/chip to the upper corners of the beveled glass panel. The base lining is a later replacement or restoration, in a tan/beige moire style fabric (not silk). See images for measurements.
