Fabulous antique French PUIFORCAT hallmarked 18k gold on sterling silver vermeil 10 3/4" salad or dessert serving utensil or implement pair with gorgeous Empire style pattern including laurel garland and those always popular swan figures! Thick & heavy old silver, the two have a total weight of 178 grams or 5.7 troy ounces. Each piece bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are, of course, for Maison Puiforcat (EP for Emile Puiforcat), maker to royalty and long lauded for only the finest of finery. The sides of the stems are also marked "Delaitre", likely the original retailer. A beautiful set, guaranteed to impress! One of a host of superb old French, European & American sterling silver treasures we have available so, be sure to brows some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. There is some age wear or fading to the gold plating (vermeil) but enough to have the visual appeal. Some light/faint surface marks possible. No bends, damage or repairs to note. See pictures of individual weights and measurements.
