Likely a cereal or porridge bowl (écuelle) from the size but could be used for anything really, only limited by the size and your imagination. I've shown the French hallmark punch mark, the control mark for finest sterling silver, the Minerve #1, which is stamped on bottom of the bowl and means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is for Henin & Vivier, Paris circa 1891-1896. One of two similar pieces that we're adding today so, be sure to browse some while you're with us. Very good condition. Possibly a small dimple or two but no larger dents, no damage or repairs. Some visible tarnish and light scuffing on the bottom. See pictures for weights and measurements.
