Elegant antique French sterling silver coffee or tea cup & saucer with ornate Louis XV or Rococo style decoration on each, acanthus accented handle, gold plated or "vermeil" cup interior and both in wonderful condition! With the French Minerve #1 mark, we know this beautiful cup and saucer are guaranteed to be of at least ..950/1000 silver content so above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver. About the size of a 19th century China tea cup, rare since the French weren't really known as being tea drinkers. This is not the extra large chocolate cup we sometimes offer, and isn't the other little demitasse or very small cup for espresso. Perfect for your own enjoyment, or to give as a special gift. I've shown the silversmith's mark clearly and they're for A. Boulenger, Paris circa 1876-1899. Measurements noted on photos, but the set is about the same size as a fine old English china tea cup. One of several fabulous antique French sterling silver treasures that we're adding this week so, be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good to excellent condition, I find no dents to mention and no flaws other than light surface scuffs. There is a bit of dark spotting on the saucer top, near the center. Both pieces have a total weight of 4.95 troy ounces or 154 grams. See pictures for measurements.
