Elegant antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era sterling silver & solid mother of pearl handled 12pc 7 7/8" dessert or entremet table knife set with unique engraved monogrammed steel blades and fabulous condition in what appears to be the original black leatherette storage and/or presentation box! Heavy, solid shimmering mother of pearl handles with unhallmarked sterling silver caps & collars or ferules with sinuous vines or tendrils and floral & foliate accents Intricate & ornate engraved looking monograms on the original steel blades, actually worked or stamped into the steel and appear to be "CR" or "RC". As noted, there are no hallmarks on the caps or collars, not uncommon with these smaller parts or pieces though. Definitely French and date to around the late 1800s to earliest 1900s. The inside of the box has a gold embossed stamp that reads "Mon Charrierre Collin, Paris". A truly beautiful set, don't miss them!
Very good-excellent condition. No chips, cracks, damage or repairs to the pearl. No damage or repairs to the blades though you can see some faint brownish marks in the images, that's just the beginning of faint rust because our silver polisher didn't dry them completely. Going over these old pre-stainless steel blades with a thin coating of vegetable oil will protect them from rust, etc. while storing and we'll clean them up again before shipping. The box appears to be original, is marked "Mon Charrierre Collin, Paris" on the inside and is in fine shape. See pictures for measurements.
