A fine quality Georgian English Bilston or perhaps Battersea kiln-fired Enamel patch or snuff box, late 1700s to mid-1800s. Grand Tour souvenir, likely, with florals and architectural cartouche and sides. Enameled throughout interior and bottom with raised dots adding to the motif.
Very good to excellent condition, enamel on copper, with little to no loss for its age. One will note a few very fine hairlines on the backside bottom half, likely from the working of the hinges through the centuries.Brilliant to the eye, but I see I needed to use soft soap and a toothbrush to remove dust from recesses in the enamel. Forgive me. It'll be done before it's sent out to its next owner. Keep in mind the petit size and the fact that we've blown it up enormously for your inspection.
