Antique drafting tools in shagreen case, etui, "necessaire", c.1770-1820 Marketed first in England, but made in either England or France. Tools within are those used by architects, designers, cartographers and sea captains. Shagreen case, etui (shagreen is leather made from stingray).
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Shagreen leather outer case is excellent for age and type. The case's measurements are noted on the photos. All the implements are beautifully crafted, top instruments of the era. The case would have also had a ruler in that long flat section, and it misses one instrument (one opening visible that is not filled). RARE to find. A GBP pound notification on inside of lid, which is paper-lined and in very good condition. The clasp fits perfectly tight, and there is no loss nor tears, holes in the old stingray leather outer case. Photos tell all.
