While we are able to regularly source the old 19th century hand carved birds in stands like these, the tall marshland cranes are much more rare to find. This is a wonderful pair to hold candles at table or mantel, or bedside. Originally, these would have each had flaring epergne, glass, to hold a few flowers, and they often flanked a mantel clock. This is a set of 2, original matching pair. They're 6" tall, with a base 4" x 4.5" slightly oval.
Very good to excellent condition with a nod to the very tips of several of the long marshland fronds. The 2 cranes are without any loss or damage at all, and are beautifully hand carved in the 19th century anatomically splendid Animalier movement manner.
