Signed hand painted porcelain ceramic tile tea pot trivet, "Louise 1874" (lower right corner). Framed in hand carved Black Forest treen, wood trivet frame, raised on bun feet of wood. Victorian era, beautiful art work, children and goat in blue/white, almost has a pate-sur-pate look. Overall measurement: 9 3/8" square (yes, square - photos slightly distorted). Tile showing in aperture is 7 5/8" square. Trivet is 1 5/8" tall.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. There are no chips, no hairlines nor cracks. The tile surface has some abrasions from use (review our photos). The old wood is sturdy, though it looks loose in our images. Entirely hand-crafted, both tile and trivet frame. RARE beautiful painting! In both houses, I have blue/white and Black Forest accents, old Minton tiles inset into the backsplash. More to do. Time to begin to let some of my collections go. This one I've had for decades. Would have been a tea trivet in its time, but we use it for the occasional cheese tray.
