Large and quite unique Victorian to Edwardian era buckle, .800/1000 silver buckle has a superb swan worked in colored glass tesserae, Italian micro mosaic scene with the moon and swan's reflection in a pond. The surrounding bespoke silver waves remind one of the motion of water, as well, and Persian turquoise cabochons of varying sizes make it a jeweler's work of art. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition, a fabulous display piece! Not a single tiny colored glass tesserae is missing or out of place, and I see just one tiny round of turquoise has been lost over the century and a half since it was created. (look toward the bottom). A pretty simple restoration, one tiny turquoise. The silver marks can be seen as punches on the bar of the hinged prongs. Beautifully crafted, and a gorgeous bit of jewelry, a buckle.
