This frame brings to mind the famed carver, Grinling Gibbons, it is so finely crafted. I'm uncertain if it is French or Italian, but the precision and elegance is of fine quality, indeed. Comes to me from France and an anonymous estate. Ready to add your mirror, glass and a work of art such as an antique intaglio print or watercolor, or even your favorite family photo or wedding photo. The kind of accent that elevates any interior. Warm walnut, very fine form and condition, apart from a tiny detail to the right of the girl's nose as you view it. One tiny spot there that you'll probably not even notice, the balance of the piece is so fine. Note from the back the way the frame is crafted.  The measurements are noted on our photos, including rabbit.

Very good to excellent for age and type. Dating mid-late 1800s, it survives remarkably well with just one very tiny loss, as mentioned above. No other flaws to note, and the grain and finish is superb. Shown in our final photos with a couple of pairs of hand carved Black Forest epergne stands that are large enough to make into accent table lamps, too (listed separately). Don't you just love carved wood antiques!
