These old ones, c.1750-80s present us with some of the most beautiful masterpieces of miniaturist art. The fact that I can enlarge this tiny face, and you can see personality, detail, his costume and jewelry, the arch of his eyebrow and intensity of his gaze in those blue eyes is truly amazing, know that his head Is only 7/8" high. I'm unsure what he's wearing on lapel, but it looks like a pearl-surround mourning hair art brooch. I could be wrong on that. You look. Acid-tested, he is in a complete enclosed and fine quality 12k gold brooch mount. I suspect the original convex cover glass is crystal. I purchased him in Paris decades ago.
Very good to excellent condition, no damage at all to note. Well, I can see a tiny white spot on our photos, a tiny dark line on his ruffled cravat, but to the naked eye, those certain do not appear. One of my favorites for many years.
