Fabulous Antique French 18th century to earliest 19th century needlepoint 25" x 17.5" decorator pillow (just needs a down pillow insert). Date based on style of needlework and the pattern, which recalls the 1600s to 1700s decorator fashions and reminds one of the St. Cyr needleworks. Fine embroidery work in wool and silk, it is excellent and ready to go right into your room. A heavy claret-colored velvet backing with self-rolled border and antique metallic thread trim abasing the needlework. Again, from my stash of best panels collected over decades, all of which I'm trying to part with now, a batch at a time. You'll want to mix/match to put together your own decorator dream grouping of pillows. Every decorator magazine shows them now, from modern decor to antique. Simple project, really, since all you need do is insert a down filled pillow and then stitch up one open end. Be creative!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. As noted, at least 150 years old, thrilling and early colors and motifs, seldom used and away from sunlight, it has survived with almost not much fading to the worked and dyed silk and wool yarns which have been restored if necessary anywhere (I see no evidence, so if at all, done by a gifted professional). As with all our panels, there is no mustiness or odor. Supple linen canvas, We have a good selection for you to gather several complimenting panels together to achieve your own personal work of decorator's art. Ask for help choosing if you're unsure.
