A very fine 19th century Napoleon III era sewing etui, case and .800/1000 silver with 18k layer (vermeil), all original sewing tools still inside. Stunning burl wood box or case had protected the set beautifully. Still with a fine layer of gold, all the look of 18k sewing tools but way below the cost. A set you'll love to use or display. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Case is magnificent, no flaws to note apart from interior lining to the lid, which one might even wish to replace. The lower half of the interior, a fitted silk velvet housing, is in fine condition and is a perfect fit for the sewing tools. All sewing tools are original to the case, and a nod to the old steel blades of stiletto and scissors (which remain sharp), it's just lovely. Box his well-hinged and without any warp, closes tightly and evening with a pushbutton clasp that is working well. An inlaid brass cartouche is engraved as shown. Gorgeous set!
