Fine 19th century boxed set of crochet tools are printing and appear unused within their original leather-clad presentation box. two sized hooks, each screws into the stunningly beautiful banded agate handle. Beautifully shaped to perfection for the skilled crocheter. I thought perhaps the metal collar on this one might be silver, but magnified, I can see those tiny 'marks' are construction pins and not silver marks. Compact etui or box made to slip into a pocket or purse along with a crochet project - busy hands are happy hands. I've always been drawn to these, perhaps because I had a Swiss grandmother whose hands fascinated me as they moved quickly and magically created lace for pillowcases, other works of needlework artistry. I always wish I could show her these amazing sets, tools. Measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I think the tambour has never been used, and the interior is very clean and nice for age apart from one spot where the silk velvet seems to have water spot, not stain, but a variation in texture. Some of its age shows on the outside of the case, etui, nécessaire, but not much wear, no tears or losses.
