Gorgeous antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era 18k gold on hallmarked solid .800 AND sterling silver "vermeil" 22pc entremet or dessert sized fork & spoon set with elegant Classical acanthus accented pattern, large interlaced "R.C." monograms and all in wonderful condition! A beautiful set, all virtually dripping in gold. Called vermeil, the French most often used 18k gold to plate these old silver pieces and, while we haven't tested these, we're confident that is the case here. An elegant pattern consisting of scrolled tendrils & acanthus. Quite unique, definitely attractive! The set is, as you can see, one each short of a full set for twelve. There are eleven pieces each and they are somewhat of a mix of .925 sterling and .800 under that gold. They all bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, six each are in sterling silver and there are five of each that are .800 under the gold plating. All bear the tiny diamond shaped silversmith marks for Henri Soufflot, Paris circa 1884-1910. A beautiful set, perfect for an opulent dessert or even luncheon service.
Very good to excellent condition. A very slight bit of wear to the gold plating visible on some of the raised decoration and tines/edges possible. As noted, this is a 2pc set for eleven. See pictures for measurements and silver weight.
