Aren't these beautiful! If only we had a set of twelve or more, and a tray :). Rich raised gold enamel encrusted borders with beaded 'jewel' like garland and the center aquatic scenes are framed in a gold frieze style band of hearts, those are hearts, right? Each plate has a unique hand painted scene, artist signed with what appears to be "E.S. Bayley" though I could be mistaken. The backs bear the Minton mark and are also double marked for the Chicago retailer Spaulding & Company. Also on the back is the plate or design number and the ID of each species, Carp on one and Fench on the other. A beautiful decorative pair, don't miss them.
Excellent condition. No chips or cracks to note, no repairs and the paintings are both as vivid as if they were painted yesterday. A little bit of crazing visible on the backs (see close ups of the marks). Impressed marks on the backs appear to be the Minton 1908 date mark. See pictures for measurements.
